Strictly Dance offers highly qualified dedicated teachers for students both starting their dance and music training as well as for those with exceptional technique and ability. With studios in Cleveland, Birkdale for parents in the Redlands and an Underwood dance studio for parents in Springwood, Daisy Hill, Karawatha and surrounding areas we offer a wide variety of dance, Acrobatics and Martial Arts programs. With innovation classes for young children to classes offered to prepare dancers for the professional world, our teachers are highly dedicated in helping each child progress and reach their potential. We also offer music lessons in piano, guitar and voice/ singing in one of our convenient locations in Cleveland or Underwood.

 

Debbie-Lyn Davidson

Mrs Debbie-Lyn Davidson commenced her dance training at the age of 5 years. She studied Classical Ballet RAD, Jazz, Tap, Highland and Irish Dancing. She has been teaching for more than 20 years and passed her RAD teachers Certificate with Distinction. Debbie-Lyn was awarded the ATOD Australasian Teachers Award in 2007 and 2010. She is always striving to provide expert tuition in a caring and positive environment for students at Strictly Dance. 

On a personal note Debbie-Lyn is married with 4 grown children. Three sons (into golf not dance) and one daughter, a professional dancer and also a teacher at Strictly Dance. They have been living in the Redlands for over 20 years.

Paul Boyd

Paul Boyd Paul’s very successful career has taken him all over the world.  He was Principal dancer with Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Bonn and Basel ballet companies. He made guest appearances in America, Israel, Germany, Italy, Monte Carlo, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, France and Taiwan. His extensive repertoire includes principal roles in Spartacus, Swan Lake, Giselle, Nutcracker, Copelia, Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Nights Dream, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote.  After returning to Australia in 1996 he spent 7 years as Principal dancer, company coach and choreographer with Queensland Ballet.Many of Paul’s choreographic works have been taken into the Queensland Ballets repertoires including his two full-length evenings “St Francis of Assisi” and “Jekyll and Hyde”.  Since 2004 Paul has worked as a freelance teacher, coach and choreographic credits include the Hong Academy of Performing Arts, The Royal Ballet School, Graduate College of Dance in Perth, QUT and The Australian Ballet.

Sally Aitken

USA predominantly as a contemporary dancer. As a young dancer she trained in all genres of dance ( classical ballet ( RAD) ,contemporary ,jazz and tap.) Sally won many scholarships and championships in solo and in group work at numerous eisteddfods throughout her home state of NSW. In 2001, she graduated with an Associate Degree and BA in Dance at Queensland university of technology(QUT). Whilst training at QUT she worked with choreographers such as Leigh Warren, Harold Collins MBE and Natalie Weir.

After graduating Sally then went on to become a free lance dancer and performed for numerous corporate events, award ceremonies, TV shows and product launches in and around sydney. It was at this time she joined a independent dance company called Bondi Ballet where she performed In and around Sydney and throughout regional NSW. Sally was then Invited to join the Jin Xing Dance Company in Shanghai, China. Sally has had an extensive amount of experience as a dance teacher and choreographer in various dance schools, at contemporary dance festivals, youth dance companies and amateur musical productions.

As a teacher; “I enjoy Teaching all ages in various genres of dance. I live to inspire those Aged 3 to simply co-ordinate movement to training and challenging the technical and artistic ability of the ‘ elite’ dancer who is preparing themselves for a professional dance career. “ Sally On a personal note: I am a stepmother and mother of 5 children ( 3 boys and 2 girls) they have kept me very busy and definitely the most challenging role I have and will ever play in life. My 3 youngest children love dancing and dance many afternoons as apart of the strictly dance family. I also have worked in the fitness industry (certificate 3 and 4 in fitness) and also worked in aged care ( certificate 4 dementia leisure and lifestyle).

Jasmine Cross

Jasmine started dancing at the age of 3 at Strictly Dance, she commenced the full-time Excellence program at Strictly Dance at the beginning of 2013. Throughout her dancing experience, Jasmine has performed in both solos, groups and scholarships representing Strictly Dance. She has won many places and been part of many award winning groups.   Jasmine has had experience teaching junior dancers for many years and has studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary and acro.
She is currently studying to attain her Diploma in Musical Theatre, and she loves teaching “her babies” at Strictly Dance!

Bodelle Davidson – Artistic Director

Bodelle Davidson Started dancing and singing at her mother’s dance school at the age of 2 years. She was chosen to dance with the QLD Ballet Company in their productions of Sleeping Beauty and Romeo & Juliet. She was also was chosen to perform with the QLD Opera in their production of Turandot, Hansel & Gretel and La Bohéme.

She won many eisteddfods and championships during her competitive years. She attended the QLD Dance school of Excellence and after completing a Certificate IV in Musical Theatre and Performing Arts at DLDC. She successfully auditioned for a soloist role at Tokyo Disneyland where she performed the role of Wendy from Peter Pan and Snow White in the musical “One Man’s Dream”. She continues to perform hosting and performing in ABC Children’s shows. She has taught and choreographed many award winning routines for Strictly Dance.

Kimberley Davis

Kimberley Semple (Davis) was introduced to ballet in her home town of Maitland N.S.W. under Beth Reid and Suzanne Pettit. She moved to Brisbane to attend Queensland Dance School of Excellence followed by another move to Melbourne to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Dance through the Victorian College of The Arts. Following graduation Harold Collins offered her a position with the Queensland Ballet Company. She was promoted to feature artist in 1995 and under the new direction of Francois Klaus was promoted to principal dancer. Kimberley enjoyed dancing numerous feature and principal roles from ballets such as Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Giselle, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Peer Gynt and The Little Mermaid. Kimberley was nominated for a Helpmann Award in 2003 for her performance in “The Big Three” which included works by international choreographers William Forsythe, John Neumeier and Stephan Thoss. Some of the most memorable moments in her career involved featuring and being involved in the choreographic process of new works by artists such as Natalie Weir, Paul Boyd, François Klaus, Chrissie Parrot and Rosetta Cook.In 2003 Kimberley stopped dancing to have the first of her two children. She returned to the stage in 2004 but knew in her heart that life was taking her on a new journey so happily retired from a full time dance career. Since this time Kimberley has enjoyed freelance teaching, performing in different projects by independent artists as well as undertaking a diploma in Professional Pilates. Kimberley has a boutique Pilates studio in Brisbane’s western suburbs and is a member of the Polestar Pilates mentor program assisting new students in their journey to becoming better Pilates teachers. She has enjoyed being part of a team that has seen young dancers go on to professional dance institutions such as Dutch National Ballet Academy and QUT. Using her understanding of body mechanics as well as her own professional experiences Kimberley now receives particular enjoyment from teaching, coaching and inspiring young dancers to grow into all they can be.

Ayla

Ayla started dancing at age 3, and grew up competing in eisteddfods. At age 12 she turned to competitive cheerleading and all-star dance and has never looked back. She has been a part of several award winning and national champion cheerleading and dance teams, as well as competing in Dance Worlds, Florida, in 2011.

She has been a cheerleading coach for 4 years and has been involved with a number of programs, coaching elite open dance teams, all the way down to beginner mini cheer teams. She has also had the privilege to Judge for World Cup Cheer and Dance. She enjoys spreading the love of cheerleading and watching young girls gain life skills and confidence through the sport.

Holly Davidson – Office Manager

Holly has had extensive office training with 3 years working at the Courier Mail in Advertising. She is the Administrative Director of Strictly Dance, her management skills and love of the studio atmosphere creates a positive and supportive environment for students, faculty and their families. Holly is an extraordinary woman who enjoys the many challenges of studio management and a busy family life.

She continues to amaze us by scheduling our classes and performances, managing accounts payable, costumes and running our Dancewear shop as well as backstage operations at our end of year show – the list is endless and her competence and passion for Strictly Dance is unparalleled!

Danielle Dahl

Danielle started dancing in the Redlands at the age of four. She loved learning a wide variety of styles but classical was a major focus. During her younger years in dance she won many eisteddfods, ATOD Scholarships and danced with the Queensland Ballet in their production of Romeo and Juliet.

At the age of fourteen she took up a scholarship to attend a full time school in Sydney, Ecole Vocational Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Here she studied under the tutelage of Ashley Killar, Jane Allyn and Kit Letheby. During this time she danced at the Sydney Opera House and toured with the school to regional NSW. At the age of sixteen she successfully auditioned at The Royal Conservatorium in Den Haag where she completed her professional training. During these years she had many opportunities to develop her artistry in classical ballet and contemporary dance. Being able to dance the choreography of Jiri Killiyan and Hans Van Manen at performances in Den Haag and Haarlem with live orchestras was most memorable.

As a teacher, her passion and drive is to deliver a high standard of training in a nurturing environment and be able to pass on the benefits of her international experience so that young, aspiring dancers of this generation may realise their dreams.

Olivia Weeks – Singing and Piano Teachers

Miss Olivia studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, graduating with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Performance and Jazz voice. She has completed Harvest Rain’s musical theatre internship program, and has received private vocal coaching from age nine. Olivia was awarded honors in her Grade 8 AMEB Singing for Leisure exam.

She performs as a solo artist under the name PeppermintOllie, writing songs whilst accompanying herself on the ukulele and piano. She has experience with numerous genres, and teaches classical, musical theatre and contemporary styles. Olivia is passionate about sharing her love of music with students from Strictly Dance.

She loves to see the progress and passion grow and develop through our classes and lovely, stressfree music concerts where student get to perform for family and friends.

Dominic Thwaite – Hip Hop Teacher

Being lucky enough to attend the RAW full time program of 2014/2015, Dominic has been able to work with many industry professionals such as: Jack Chambers, Andrew Fee, Jason Duff, Matthew Browning, Carly O’Connor, Nerida
Matthaei, Simone Pope, TJ Tauroa, Sammie Williams, Thomas Larkin & Alison Rogers.

Dominic started dancing as the age of nine, and had participated in the multiple local, national and international competitions and performed with RAW Dance Company for multiple corporate events throughout Australia.

Having such a divers range he is able to teach students how to dance in a way that will test them, as a result helping them reach higher levels of movement. Dominic’s main styles are Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Commercial Jazz.
